Uses:

1. Strengthens the Live, Nourishes Blood:

–Liver disease
–Liver obstruction
–Anemia

2. Clears Heat, Benefits the Eyes:

–improves Eyesight
–Eye diseases with Heat

3. Clears Heat, Resists Poison:

–Fever
–Fever due to poisoning
–Liver poison

4. Promotes Urine:

–Edema
–Swelling

Dose:

125–250mg

Substitute:

Used similarly to Iron Bhasma which is more readily absorbed.

Comment:

Prepared Iron is used similarly to Iron Oxide, but is better prepared and more potent.

Preparation:

1. Prepared Iron–Lcags rtsi:
  Discard the seeds from Yellow Myrobalan and grind the fruit to powder and put in an Iron vessel with powdered Iron. Add urine of an 8 year old boy (or if unavailable, clean water) and mix to a paste. In Summer, put a lid on; in Winter put in a warm place, and leave for 3 days until blackened. Wash well to remove the Myrobalan powder, then dry and keep for use.
2. Moonlight-prepared Iron–Lcags rtsi zla ‘od:
  The above preparation is made. When it becomes soft put it on a bronze plate and expose to moonlight of the full moon overnight. This is more cooling and regarded as tonic.

1. To strengthen the Eyesight, take with Triphala
2. Heat and inflammation of the Eyes, take with Barberry
