3L. ANTITUSSIVE
Bechica, Stop Cough
These are medicines which treat Cough. They are broadly classed as either Warm or Cold, being used for Cold and Hot Coughs respectively. Warm medicines help ‘digest’ cold, thick and raw Phlegm while Cold medicines cool and thicken hot, sharp, thin Phlegm.
i. Warming Anti-tussives
These are attenuating Anti-tussives which warm, make thin and facilitate expectoration; used for Cold and Thick Phlegm.
ii. Cooling Anti-tussives
These are incrassating Anti-tussives which cool, thicken, soothe and moisten; used for Hot and Thin Phlegm.
