Botanical name:

Albizia julibrissin
Ayurveda and Unani use A. lebbeck and A. odoratissima

Parts used:

Dried stem-bark

Temperature & Taste:

Neutral, Sweet

Uses:

1. Calms the Spirit, Moves Liver Qi: (TCM)

-Insomnia, Forgetfulness
-Irritability, Excessive Emotions, Depression
-Stomach discomfort or pressure on the Chest from excess Worry and Emotions

2. Clears Heat, Stops Cough and Wheezing: (Ayurveda)

-Bronchitis, Asthma

3. Moves the Blood, Relieves Pain: (TCM)

-Back pain
-Trauma, Bruising, injuries from Falls

4. Clears the Eyes: (TCM)

-blurred Vision
-eye redness or pain from Wind-Heat
-the leaves are used for night-blindness (juice applied, decoction internally) (Ayurveda)

5. Astringes the Essence:

-used as a sperm tonic in Ayurveda
-sperm retentive; Premature Ejaculation

6. Externally:

-Erysipelas (Ayurveda)

Dose:

Decoction: 3–9 grams
Powder: 1–3 grams
