Fu Shen (Poria with root)

Yuan Zhi (Polygala)

Polygala tenuifolia

Long Gu (Fossil bones)

Fossila Os

Shi Chang Pu (Calamus)

Acorus tatarinowii

4 ½ grams ea.

Preparation:

Powder, form into Honey pills.

Function:

Strengthens the Heart, Calms the Spirit

Use:

1. Timid, easily frightened
2. Palpitations with Anxiety
3. Forgetfulness
4. Anxiety
5. Mental disorders
6. Obsessive Compulsive disorder
7. Depression
8. Bi-polar disorder
9. Panic attacks
10. Mania, incessant laughter

Dose:

6 grams, three times daily

Cautions:

None noted

Modifications:

1. With Blood deficiency, add Dang Gui
2. More severe Palpitations, add Oyster shell (Mu Li)
3. To more strongly calm the Heart and Mind, add Amber (Hu Po)
4. Insomnia, add Pearl (Zhen Zhu), Amber (Hu Po)
5. With spontaneous sweating, add Oyster shell (Mu Li), Ephedra root (Ma Huang Gen)
6. Palpitations associated with Fright, add Musk (She Xiang), Amber (Hu Po)
7. Arrhythmia or Palpitations, add Curcuma Yu Jin, Amber (Hu Po)

Similar Formulas:

Ding Zhi Wan

This is Ding Zhi Wan with Poria Fu Shen (Poria with root) and Fossil bones (Long Gu) added. It is used principally the same, but is stronger to Calm the Spirit.
