Preparation:

Powder

Function:

Promotes Digestion, Clears Heat (Bile), Directs Qi Downwards, Promotes Urine

Use:

1. Heat (Bile) excess in the Stomach
2. Hyperacidity, GERD
3. Nausea, Vomiting
4. Hiccups, Belching
5. Constipation associated with excess Heat
6. Headache due to rising Heat and Wind
7. Hemorrhoids
8. Retention of Urine
9. Difficult Urine
10. Nephritis
11. Excess Uric acid
12. Chronic Kidney failure

Dose:

Adults: 3–5 grams twice daily
Children: 1–3 grams twice daily
Taken with Honey, Water or Milk, or Coconut water for excess Bile and Hyperacidity.

Cautions:

1. Not used during Pregnancy
2. Avoid in Abdominal Pain (it may aggravate)
3. Not used in loose stool.

Modifications:

1. Hyperacidity with Indigestion, with Red Coral and Licorice, taken after meals with Coconut water.
2. Gastroduodenal Ulcers, take with Licorice and Shatavari

Comment:

Avipatti in Sanskrit means to “get rid of digestive disorder”.
