* In India, Coconut or Sesame oil is used. In the West, Olive oil is typically used.
Preparation:
Camphor is heated in the oil until dissolved, then strained.
Function:
Eases pain, clears Heat and Inflammation, Stops Itching
In India, that prepared with Sesame oil is regarded as best for Muscle and Joint pain, while that prepared with Coconut oil is regarded as better for skin diseases.
Use:
1. Muscle spasms and pain
2. Arthritis or Rheumatoid Arthritis pain
3. Acute back strain
4. Numbness
5. Headache
6. Chest congestion
7. Itchy or inflamed skin conditions (Coconut oil)
8. Eczema
9. Burns
10. Dandruff, itchy scalp
Dose:
Only applied externally.
For joint pain, Fomentations are used after applying Camphor oil.
