Shen Qu (Fermented Leaven)

120 grams

Preparation:

Powder and form small pills with Honey.

Function:

Sedates the Spirit, weighs down the Yang, improves the Senses

Use:

1. Palptations
2. Insomnia
3. Tinnitus
4. Seizures
5. Epilepsy
6. Loss of Hearing
7. Loss of Vision
8. Neurasthenia
9. Schizophrenia

Dose:

6 grams twice daily.

Cautions:

None noted

Modifications:

1. Seizures with excess Phlegm, add Arisaema prepared with Bile Dan Nan Xing, Hematite (Dai Zhe Shi)
2. With Yin Deficiency, take with Liu Wei Di Huang Wan.
3. Schizophrenia, add Coptis Huang Lian, Gardenia Zhi Zi, Arisaema prepared with Bile Dan Nan Xing
4. Severe Palpitations, add Oyster shell (Mu Li), Fossil teeth (Long Chi)
5. Vision disorders, take with Ming Mu Di Huang Wan.
