Preparation:
The Honey is prepared as follows: boiled in the juices of Fennel 1 oz.; Celandine and Rue 1⁄2 oz. ea. Add the herbs in fine powder and form an Electuary.
Function:
Benefits the Heart, Brain and Eyes, quickens the Senses, resists Infection
Use:
1. Poor and Failing Eyesight
2. chronic Eye disorders associated with poor eyesight
3. Poor Memory
4. Prevents Infection during Epidemics
5. May be used for Allergic Rhinitis
Dose:
1 dram for a cold body, half a dram for a hot, or 2-4 scruples. It is taken in the morning, on an empty Stomach
Comment:
“Good for the Heart and Brain, quickens the Senses, especially the Sight. It also resists Pestilence”. (Culpeper)

Modifications:
There were many variations based on this theme. Often the Spices were reduced to just Mace, or Mace and Cinnamon or Clove; some added Aniseed or Coriander; Rue was often added also.
