Preparation:
Boil in wine or water; in 20 ounces of the strained decoction dissolve Venice Borax 1 dram, and a little sugar to taste.
Function:
Moves the Blood and Qi, promotes Labor, eases Pain
Use:
1. Prolonged or Difficult Labor;
2. Loss of strength during Labor
Dose:
5 oz. (the above makes 4 doses)
Comment:
Barbette relayed the story: ‘My neighbors wife … was in her Labor two days, by which she was so weakened, that the standers by judged her near death; she used the above-mentioned mixture, and presently … she brought forth two children, and did very well afterwards’.
Cautions:
This is a strong medicine and should be used cautiously.
