Glycyrrhiza glabra

1⁄2 oz.

Currants

Ribes nigrum Vinum

2 drams

Red Wine

Rubrum

1 quart

Preparation:

Boil together until one quarter has boiled away

Function:

clears Heat and Toxin, resolves Inflammation, eases Pain

Use:

1. acute Sore Throat
2. Laryngitis
3. Pharyngitis
4. beginning of Tonsillitis

Dose:

a little is taken warm 5–7 times daily; it may be used as a gargle

Cautions:

None noted

Modifications:

1. If there is Ulceration, Honey of Roses (or plain Honey) is added
2. Sage would be a good addition
