Preparation:

Powder all the herbs, then with three times their weight of clarified Honey, form an Electuary.

Function:

Warms the Innate Heat (Yang), promotes Digestion, moves Qi, clears Cold Phlegm, stops Cough and Wheezing

Use:

1. Stomach weakness
2. Poor appetite and Indigestion
3. Pain of the Intestines
4. Pain of the Uterus
5. Cough
6. Asthma
7. Catarrh
8. Cold joint pain in the Aged

Dose:

1–2 drams

Cautions:

None noted

Modifications:

1. Luminare Majus (1549) had a few variations: Opium instead of Celery seed; omitted Cinnamon; added 2 scruples of Frankincense, Amomum and Floris Syriaci, and used Poppy juice extract (Meconium) in place of Poppy seed.
