* Burnt Deer horn is probably meant

Preparation:

Powder finely and mix; add 4 ounces of Sugar made into a Syrup with Rose Water, and make an Electuary.

Function:

Clears Wind-Damp, Eases Pain

Use:

“It prevails against the Gout [Arthritis], and is good to consume superfluous humours which fall upon the Nerves from the Brain”.
1. Arthritis
2. Rheumatism
3. Joint pain associated with Wind-Damp in general

Dose:

1–2 drams

Cautions:

With Birthwort omitted it is generally dafe but should not be used long-term.

Modifications:

1. Birthwort and Ivory need to be substituted or omitted if recreated.
2. Velvet Deer horn could replace Burnt Deer horn if used in severe and degenerative arthritis with deficiency.
3. St. John’s wort herb can replace the seed.
