Preparation:

Purified Bdellium is beaten in a mortar with a little Castor oil to form a paste. Gradually add the other herbs in powder, then form pills of 375mg (or 500mg) each.

Function:

Clears Wind and Damp,

Use:

1. Arthritic pain
2. Rheumatoid arthritis
3. Lumbago or back pain
4. Neuromuscular disorders (associated with Damp)
5. Mild laxative
6. Useful in any condition caused by Wind-Damp (Vata and Ama)

Dose:

375–1500mg, three times daily after meals with warm milk or water.
Children can take 125–375mg

Cautions:

Not used during Pregnancy

Modifications:


In Ayurevda this is an important formulation when Wind and Ama (toxic residue of undigested food) are combined. This concept is very similar to Wind and Damp of TCM, and in both cases, this pathology is directly related to Rheumatoid Arthritis and related conditions.
