Preparation:
Powder.
It may be prepared as a decoction with the above doses.
Function:
Moves Qi, calms the Liver, benefits Spleen, Nourishes Blood
Use:
1. Light or short menstruation (from Blood deficiency)
2. PMS, Premenstrual pain and cramping
3. Irritability, Stress, Emotions, mild depression
4. Anemia
5. Dizziness, Headache
6. Uterine Bleeding
Dose:
take 6 grams of the powder twice daily with warm water
Cautions:
None noted
Modifications:
1. More severe Blood deficiency add Donkey Hide Gelatin (E Jiao)
2. More Qi deficiency, add Astragalus Huang Qi.

This is Xiao Yao San with Rehmannia Sheng Di Huang added. Xiao Yao San is a main formula for PMS, mild stress and Depression. When Rehmannia is added, it is better for cases with Blood deficiency marked by pale face and tongue, weak pulse, dizzines, and scanty menstruation.
