* Synthetic Bezoar and Musk are generally used today.
** Ariseame Dan Nan Xing is prepared with Bile.

Preparation:

Powder and make small pills (traditionally about 90 mg each).

Function:

Opens the Orifices, Clears Heat, Resolves Plegm, Stops Spasms and Convulsions

Use:

Fever, restlessness, red face, excess mucus
1. Childhood Convulsions
2. Seizures
3. Epilepsy
5. Severe Irritability and Restlessness in infants
6. Pneumonia
7. Measles
8. Scarlet Fever
9. Severe acute Cough with excess Phlegm and Fever
10. Acute Gastroenteritis with vomiting and diarrhea
11. Acute Meningitis
12. Encephalitis
13. Postpartum Convulsions

Dose:

Child under 1 year old: 1 pill (90mg) taken 2–3 times daily, crushed and mixed in water.
Child of 2 years old: 2 pills (180mg), taken 2–3 times daily, crushed and mixed in water
One pill can be increased per year in children.
Adult dose: 2–3 grams, 2–3 times daily.

Cautions:

1. Not used during Pregnancy
2. Not used long term due to Cinnabar content.
3. Avoid overdose.
4. Only for conditions with excess, not used in deficient conditions.

Modifications:

1. Cinnabar can be replaced with Pearl Powder in a dose similar to Bezoar and Musk.
