Preparation:
Powder and form honey pills
Function:
Warms and strengthens the Spleen and Stomach
Use:
Nausea, poor appetite, abdominal pain, pale tongue with white coat, deep and weak pulse
1. Chronic Gastritis
2. Gastric or duodenal Ulcers
3. Chronic Colitis
4. Irritable Bowel Syndrome
5. It can also be used for Cold-type Bleeding: vomiting blood, Blood in the Stool or Uterine Bleeding with cold limbs, feeling cold, fatigue and a deep, weak pulse.
Dose:
6–9 grams, 2–3 times daily with warm water. It may be taken with Rice porridge
Cautions:
1. Not used in Heat conditions
2. Not used in Yin deficiency.
Modifications:
1. Unless acute or severe, Codonopsis Dang Shen usually replaces Ginseng in modern times with 2–3 times the dosage.
2. For severe Coldness of the Spleen and Stomach, or Spleen Yang deficiency, add prepared Aconitum Zhi Fu Zi. This results in Fu Zi Li Zhong Wan.
3. For Cold-type Bleeding, carbonize the Ginger and add carbonized Madder.
Similar Formulas:
Fu Zi Li Zhong Wan adds Aconitum (Fu Zi). It is more warming and used for more severe cases.
