Preparation:

Powder

Function:

Warms the Stomach, clears Phlegm and Damp

Use:

1. Wind, Colic
2. Gurgling and bloating of the Stomach and Intestines
3. Indigestion, loss of appetite
4. Piles
5. Abdominal diseases, abdominal pain (from Phlegm and Damp)
6. Constipation (in Phlegm types)
7. Rheumatism

Dose:

3–5 grams daily in divided doses (API), taken with warm water
Others state 1–4 grams, 3 times daily.

Cautions:

Not used in Heat-type Gastritis

Modifications:

Some sources list a variation in which Cyperus rotundus replaces Ginger. Cyperus would certainly be a fitting addition for the intended uses.
