Agrimony juice dried

Agrimonia eupatoria

Aloe

Aloe spp.

Yellow Myrobalan

Terminalia chebula (yellow)

equal parts

Preparation:

Powder and form Pills with Water of Macedonian (ie. ‘Italian’) Parsley (or Syrup of Celery)

Function:

Clears Heat and Damp, opens Obstructions

Use:

1. Jaundice
2. Liver disease
3. Cholecystitis
4. Hepatitis
5. Liver Tumors and Hardness

Dose:

1 scruple–1 dram (some gave up to 2 drams)

Cautions:

None noted

Modifications:

1. Mesue had a version that added an equal amount of Rhubarb
2. For stronger obstruction, add Wormwood and Aniseed
3. For stronger Liver Heat, add Gentian
4. For Liver hardness add Bdellium and Saffron
