Mastic

Pistacia lentiscus

2 drams

Sweet Powder of Musk

Diamoschu Dulcer

1⁄2 dram

Preparation:

Powder and with Syrup of Damask Roses, form a pill mass

Function:

Cleanse and strengthens the Stomach, clears Bile and Damp, benefits Digestion

Use:

1. Stomach weakness with nausea, poor appetite, low energy, loose bowels
2. Vertigo, Migraine, Lethargy associated with Stomach dysfunction

3. Strengthens Sight

Dose:

1 scruple–1 dram

Cautions:

None noted

Modifications:

Similar Formulas:

Aromatic Pills of Aloes, Pilulae Aloephanginae, Stomach Pills, and Pills of Mastic.

Note that this is based on Pills of Mastic of Mesue, using the more gentle Rosed Aloes and adding Diamoschu Dulce. These are more suited to Dampness with deficiency.
