Preparation:
Make a coarse Powder to be decocted.
“Although this medicine is called thang’om [Decoction], however, it is better to prescribe in the form of powder” (Men Tsee Kang)
Function:
Warms the Stomach, Clears Cold Phlegm, Disperses Wind, Stops Cough
Use:
“This medicine completely cures intractable cough, in which it is difficult to expectorate whitish foamy sputum, rlung [wind] or a combination of bad-kan and rlung [phlegm & wind] in the Lungs.”
1. Colds with Cough
2. Cough with frothy white sputum
3. Wind-Phlegm in the Lungs
4. Shortness of Breath
5. Indigestion with nausea and belching (from Wind and Phlegm)
6. Cold Tumors of the Stomach
7. Cold and Weak Kidneys
8. Wind (and Cold) affecting the Heart
9. Functional disorders of the Stomach, Lungs, Heart, Kidneys;
Dose:
It is decocted in water (1 in 8 parts). Half a cup is taken three times daily.
Some texts have stated it is best taken in powder form in a dose of 2–3 grams with hot water.
Comment:
This is an expanded version of Pomegranate 5.
Cautions:
1. Not used in Heat conditions
