Preparation:

Powder

Function:

Astringes, promotes Healing

Use:

1. used specifically for Hernia: it can be used for Hiatus Hernia, Inguinal Hernia
2. Hematoma
3. Varicose Veins
4. Hemorrhoids.

Dose:

For an Infant: 15 grains, thrice daily; for an adult 1⁄2–1 dram. It is best used simultaneously with an external Plaster for Hernias.

Cautions:

1. Despite the fact that it was previously used in infants it should not be used in children under 5 or 6. If it was used in infants, it should not exceed the recommended dose of 15 grains, and should not be taken continuously for more than 2 weeks.2. Should not be used for more than 2 or 3 weeks without a break.

Modifications:

1. It is stronger if Rupturewort is added.
