Preparation:
Powder and form small pills with Honey.
Function:
Nourish the Yin of the Liver and Kidneys, Strengthens the Eyes
Use:
Poor or failing vision, dry, reddish and /or cracked Tongue with little coating; pulse is rapid and thin, with signs of dryness.
1. Poor or failing vision
2. Photophobia
3. Myopia
4. Retinitis
5. Optic neuritis
6. Optic nerve atrophy
7. Macular degeneration
8. Cataracts
9. Glaucoma
10. Hypertension
11. Hyperthyroidism
12. Srogren’s Syndrome
Dose:
9 grams of the pills, three times daily
Cautions:
None noted
Modifications:
1. If there is signs of Heat (Yin-deficient Fire), use Rehmannia Sheng Di (raw root) instead of Rehmannia Shu Di (prepared root).
2. Red eyes with pain, add Anemarrhena Zhi Mu, Phellodendron Huang Bai
3. Tearing with wind exposure, add Cimicifuga Sheng Ma
4. Hypertension, add Self Heal (Xia Ku Cao)
