Huang Qin (Baical Skullcap) **

Scutellaria baicalensis

Guo Lou Ren (Trichosanthes)

Trichosanthes kirilowii

Zhi Shi (Immature Orange) **

Citrus aurantium

Chen Pi (Tangerine peel)

Citrus tangerina

Fu Ling (Poria)

Poria cocos

Xing Ren (Apricot seed)

Prunus armeniaca

6 grams ea.

* Arisaema Tian Nan Xing is prepared with Bile
** Scutellaria Huang Qin and Immature Orange (Zhi Shi) are dtir-fried

Preparation:

Powder and form pills with Ginger juice.

Function:

Transforms Phlegm, Clears Heat, Moves Qi, Stops Cough
May also be prepared as a decoction using the above doses.

Use:

Cough with hard-to-clear yellow phlegm, chest fullness, nausea, red tongue with a yellow greasy tongue coat, slipper and rapid pulse
1. Hot-Phlegm Cough
2. Bronchitis
3. Upper Respiratory Tract Infection
4. Whooping Cough
5. Chronic Sinusitis
6. Bronchial Asthma
7. Pleurisy
8. Pneumonia
9. Emphysema
10. Bronchiectasis
11. Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)

Dose:

Take 6–9 grams twice per day with warm water.
As a decoction, the above is taken over the course of the day.

Cautions:

1. Not for Cold Phlegm
2. Not suitable for Yin deficiency

Modifications:

1. Strong Heat, add Coptis Huang Lian
2. Strong Lung Heat with Fever, add Gypsum (Shi Gao), Anemarrhena Zhi Mu
3. Nausea and Vomtiijng, take the Pills with strong Ginger tea, or if decocted, add agood amount of fresh Ginger to teh decoction.
4. Phlegm-Heat Cough, add Fritillaria Zhe Bei Mu and Mulberry bark (Sang Bai Pi)
5. Constipation, add Rhubarb (Da Huang)
