Guggulu (Bdellium)

Commiphora mukul

Ghee (Clarified Butter)

Butyrum purificans

sufficient

Preparation:

Beat purified Bdellium in a mortar with a little Ghee to form a paste, then slowly add the remaining in powder to form a stiff paste. Form pills of 500mg each.

Function:

Settles Wind, clears Damp, guides Qi downwards

Use:

1. Tinnitus
2. Headache, Migraine
3. Rheumatoid Arthritis
4. Osteoarthritis
5. Gout
6. Sciatica
7. Paralysis
8. Hemiplegia
9. Neuropathy
10. Sinuses and Fistula
11. Colic, Bloating, Abdominal distention

Dose:

500mg–2 grams, 2–3 times daily after meals
Children can take 250–500mg

Cautions:

1. Best avoided in Pregnancy (although it is occasionally used in India under supervision and on a short-term basis)
2. It may cause digestive disturbance in those with a sensitive stomach. Taking after meals usually alleviates this.
