Jugulans regia

5 nuts

Ren Shen (Ginseng)

Panax ginseng

6 grams

Sheng Jiang (fresh Ginger)

Zingiber officinalis

5 slices

Preparation:

Prepare a standard decoction.

Function:

Strengthens Lungs and Kidneys, Stops Cough and Wheezing

Use:

Chronic Cough or Wheezing with weak voice, low energy, inability to lie down, weak pulse, pale tongue
1. Chronic Cough
2. Chronic Bronchitis
3. Bronchial Asthma
4. Emphysema
5. Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)

Dose:

The above decoction is divided into 3 equal doses to be taken over the course of a day.

Cautions:

None noted

Modifications:

1. Chronic Asthma, add Gecko (Ge Jie) and Schisandra Wu Wei Zi.
2. Chronic Cough, add Apricot kernel (Xing Ren), Coltsfoot (Kuan Dong Hua), Licorice (Gan Cao)
3. With Spleen deficiency, add Atractylodes Bai Zhu, Poria Fu Ling
4. Shortness of Breath, add Psoralea Bu Gu Zhi, Aloeswood (Chen Xiang), Gecko (Ge Jie), Schisandra Wu Wei Zi.
5. Cold Phlegm obstructing the Lungs, add Pinellia Ban Xia, Poria Fu Ling, Citrus Chen Pi.
