* Two different sources have given different proportions. The left column is from Men Tsee Kang, the right column is from Amdo Compendium.
** Amdo Compendium lists Geranium (Li ga dur) and Pegaeophyton (Sro lo dkar po) in place of Meconopsis (Ut pal) and Bistort (Gla sgan)
Preparation:
Powder; Rock Sugar is added by some sources
Function:
Clears Lung heat, clears Phlegm, stops Cough
Use:
“cures Fever of the Lungs and excretion of sputum mixed with Pus and Blood”
“The composition cures dangerous Lung fever”.
1. Heat-type Cough; all Inflammations of the Lungs
2. Lung Fever
3. Cough with sputum and pus
4. Bronchitis
5. Hemoptysis
6. Pneumonia
7. Pleurisy
8. Lung Abscess
9. Tuberculosis
10. Pain in the Lungs from Heat
Dose:
2–3 grams, 2 or 3 times daily with hot water
Cautions:
None noted
Modifications:
1. Some sources have listed Gypsum in place of Tabasheer. Gypsum is better to clear Heat from the Lungs, Tabasheer is better for Phlegm-Heat.
2. Glehnia littoralis and Rhodiola have been listed by some sources instead of Bistort and Blue Lotus. Rhodiola can be used in this formula.
3. Another variation omits Bistort and Blue Lotus and replaces them with Sro lo dkar po (Pegaeophyton scapiflorum) and Li gar dur (Geranium pratense).
4. Sea Buckthorn and Costus are recommended as good additions, and are often added in Buryat region.
