Preparation:

Powder and form Pills.

Function:

Dispels Wind, Clears Heat, Dries Damp, Moves the Blood

Use:

Wind diseases with Pain marked by moving joint pain
Wind-Damp-Heat painful obstruction with Blood Stagnation marked by Hot, swollen and painful joints
1. Muscle and Joint Pain
2. Arthritis
3. Rheumatoid Arthritis
4. Gout
5. Osteoarthritis
6. Lower Back Pain
7. Sciatica
8. Traumatic pain that has become chronic
9. Trigeminal Neuralgia
10. other types of Neuralgia
11. Rheumatic Fever
12. Lupus erythematosis

Dose:

3–6 grams twice daily.

Cautions:

1. Not used during Pregnancy
2. Not used in marked weakness (without additions)
3. Caution: Fang Ji can indicate a variety of Aristolchia. Stephania (Han Fang Ji) should be used. 

Modifications:

1. Blood deficiency, add Dang Gui
2. Spleen and Qi deficiency, add Atractylodes Bai Zhu
3. More pronounced Spleen and Qi deficiency, add Ginseng
4. Heat and Toxin, add Rhubarb (Da Huang)
5. Red, hot, swollen joints:
i. add Paeonia Mu Dan Pi and Rehmannia Sheng Di Huang
ii. add Anemarrhena Zhi Mu, Paeonia Chi Shao
6. Moving Joint pain, add Saposhnikovia Fang Feng
7. Lower Body joint pain, Sciatica, add Eucommia Du Zhinbg and Dipsacus Xu Duan
8. Chronic Cold joint pain, add Aconitum Fu Zi, Acanthopanax Wu Jia Pi
9. For severe pain, add Nux Vomica (Ma Qian Zi), Aconitum Fu Zi
10. Trigeminal Neuralgia, add Scorpion (Quan Xie) and Centipede (Wu Gong)
