** Dates are steeped in Vinegar for 8 days, then dried
Preparation:
Decoct all except Camphor in 2 quarts of water down to half; strain and press out hard. The add: Quince juice 12 oz., Sugar 36 oz. Boil well together, then clarify, adding the Camphor and a little Mint towards the end.
Function:
Astringent, clears Heat and Toxin
Use:
Gonorrhea; ‘very precious and approved’.
Dose:
2 oz. with 3 oz. of Purslane water
Comment:
Gonorrhea and Spermatorrhea were traditionally called ‘Running of the Reins’ or a ‘Flux’ (Leakage) of the Kidneys. Spermatorrhea is a leaking of Semen which may be at Night while asleep, or may leak during the day. This is a deficiency condition that requires Astringent medicines along with medicine to strengthen the Kidneys. Infectious Gonorrhea is associated with Heat and Toxin, and requires medicines appropriated to that end. The above formula is used for the latter.
