Preparation:

Boil in 8 lbs. of Honey Water in B.M. to 4 lbs.; add 2 lbs. each of Honey and Sugar; Boil, then perfume with 1 oz. of Orris root

Function:

Clears Cold Phlegm, stops Cough, strengthens the Lungs

Use:

1. Chronic Cough
2. Shortness of Breath
3. Wheezing
4. Asthma
5. Chronic Lung diseases including Lung Ulcers, spitting of Blood, Consumption
6. Also promotes Urine

Dose:

1–2 oz.

Comment:

“This Syrup does cure old Coughs, long diseases of the Breast and Lungs, shortness of Wind [Breath], and chiefly in old men if it come of phlegmatic humours, gross, corrupt and hard to be dissolved”. (Prepositas his Practise)
