Thirst

Thirst is the desire to drink. It is a normal response to the bodies desire to drink when dehydrated. However, Thirst can be pathological when constant or insatiable,

Thirst, broadly, can be divided into 2 types:

  • Heat-type Thirst: accompanied by Fever or excess Heat of the Body, especially Lung, Stomch or Liver Heat
  • Deficiency-type Thirst: associated with dryness or Yin deficiency

Western Tradition

Vehement Thirst

1. For Vehement Thirst, mix oil and water, heat a little and drink, then vomit it up. Repeat if necessary. It is very good to cure vehement Thirst. (The Secrets of Alexis, 1615)
2. Soft roasted Egg yolks, mixed with a little Oil and eat, cures thirst.

Emblic Myrobalan
Licorice
Licorice juice

Infusion of Prunes
Syrup de Acresta
Mucilage of Quince seed

Night sweats, heat in the bones or legs at night, irritability, sleeps poorly, with a small and rapid pulse, no tongue coat or cracks
