* The juices are depurated by being gently boiled
Decoct the beaten herbs in the juices until 2 lbs. remain (approximately down to half); Strain, and dissolve in Tamarind pulp 3 oz., Cassia Fistula pulp 4 oz., Sugar of Violets 12 oz. Then with White Sugar 3 lbs. and Wine Vinegar 1 lb., boil to a syrup. Then add the following in fine powder:

Preparation:

Mix the powders in well to form an Electuary.

Function:

Clears Heat from the Stomach and Liver, clears Heat from the Blood, Resists Poison, relieves Inflammation, opens Obstructions, eases Pain

Use:

1. Fevers: Acute; Quartan
2. Preservative and treatment for the Plague

3. Thirst of Fevers
4. Stomach In
flammation
5. Liver In
flammation
6. Yellow Jaundice
7. Fibroid Tumors
8. Cancer (adjunct)
9. Headache and Migraine from excess Heat or Bile Humor
10. Arthritic diseases associated with Heat or Bile
11. Cleanses and improves Eyesight
12. Poor Eyesight due to excess Bile humor
13. “Defends one from all Sickness”. (

Dose:

1⁄2–1 oz.

Comment:

“It is good against all Agues, which proceed out of the Stomach, and also against the Yellow Jaundice, which proceeds of great heat, it opens all Obstructions, it amends the Sight which is infirmed through Choleric vapors, it Quenches Thirst, and defends one from all Sickness”. (Wirtzung)
This is a large and difficult-to-make formula, yet is elegant in composition. It purges Bile, Pituitous and Melancholy Humors. There were many variations.
