Licorice juice

Succus Glycyrrhiza

2 1⁄2 drams

Preparation:

Powder and form Troches with wine boiled to one-third, each weighing 4 grams

Function:

Clears Phlegm, moves Qi, eases Pain, benefits the Stomach

Use:

1. Fever caused by Phlegm
2. Stomach Pain associated with Qi stagnation
3. Strengthens Digestion
4. Chronic Fever
5. Incipient Edema

Dose:

1–2 drams

Cautions:

None noted

Modifications:

1. Another version used 2 parts of Rose to one part each of Spikenard and Licorice juice.
