Preparation:

Powder and form Troches with sufficient clarified Chicory juice

Function:

Clears Heat, opens Liver Obstructions

Use:

1. Liver Obstructions
2. Liver Hardness and Tumors;
3. Jaundice;
4. Stomach Hardness and Tumors;
5. Hepatitis;
6. Chronic Fevers;
7. Pain of the abdominal organs from obstruction;
8. used after an Edema to prevent its return.

Dose:

1–2 drams; usually taken with Oxymel

Cautions:

None noted

Modifications:



‘These be good in long Agues [Chronic Fever], and deliver the Liver and the Stomach from obstructions and hardness, and do comfort the same, they take away pain in the principal parts, and do cause good Appetite if they be drunken in long Agues, then they do profit very much’. (Nicolas Prepositas)
