Vinegars are extractions, infusion or tinctures prepared with vinegar rather than alcohol-water mixtures. There were a number of vinegar-based formulas used to prevent or cure Infectious Diseases including the Plague. Vinegar has the effect of cutting tough phlegm and also breaking down the protective coating on some bacteria.
