Gui Zhi (Cinnamon twig)

Cinnamomum cassia

Chuan Xiong (Sichuan Lovage)

Ligusticum chuanxiong

Bai Shao (White Peony)

Paeonia lactiflora

E Jiao (Donkey hide gelatin)

Equus asinus

Mu Dan Pi (Tree Peony root bark)

Paeonia suffruticosa

Ren Shen (Ginseng)

Panax ginseng

Gan Cao (Licorice)

Glycyrrhiza uralensis

Sheng Jiang (fresh Ginger)

Zingiber officinalis

Ban Xia (Pinellia)

Pinellia ternata

6 grams ea.

Preparation:

Prepare a standard Decoction, adding the Gelatin to the strained decoction.

Function:

Nourishes the Blood, Warms the Menstruation, clears Cold, dispels Stasis

Use:

1. Persistent Uterine Bleeding
2. Irregular Menstruation
3. Dysmenorrhea
4. Spotting or Bleeding between periods
5. Infertility
6. Polycystic Ovaries
7. Pelvic Inflammatory Disease
8. Endometriosis
9. Endometrial Hyperplasia

Dose:

The above decoction is divided into 3 doses to be taken over the course of the day

Cautions:

Not used in Excess / Heat conditions

Modifications:

1. More severe cold in the lower abdomen, replce Cinnamon twig (Gui Zhi) with Cinnamon bark (Rou Gui)
2. More severe Blood Stasis, add Peach kernel (Tao Ren), Safflower (Hong Hua)
3. If there is Qi stagnation, add Cyperus Xiang Fu
4. Qi deficiency, add Astragalus Huang Qi
5. Yin deficiency, add Rehmannia Sheng Di Huang.
6. More severe Pain, add Cyperus Xiang Fu, Safflower (Hong Hua), Corydalis Yan Hu Suo.
7. Infertility from deficiency and cold, add Green Tangerine peel (Qing Pi) and Cyperus Xiang Fu and take only during Menstruation.
8. Also for Infertility, add Dodder seed (Tu Si Zi), Dipsacus Xu Duan
9. Endometritis, add Frankincense (Ru Xiang) and Notoginseng (San Qi)
10. Also for Endometritis, add Frankincense (Ru Xiang) and Myrrh (Mo Yao).
11. With lower back pain, add Eucommia Du Zhong, Mistletoe (Sang Ji Sheng), Dodder seed
12. Bleeding after Miscarriage, add Motherwort (Yi Mu Cao), Codonopsis Dang Shen, Achyranthes Niu Xi
