* In the source text, unprepared versions of Typhonium and Ariseama are listed, both of which are very toxic, but are more potent in severe cases. Usually, prepared forms of these herbs are used.

Preparation:

Powder

Function:

Clears Wind, Resolves Wind, Stops Spasms, Eases Pain

Use:

1. Facial Paralysis
2. Deviation of the eyes or mouth
3. Stiffness and spasms of the mouth, jaw or face
4. Tetanus
5. Botulism
6. Severe Post Traumatic Pain

Dose:

Take 6 grams three times daily with warm wine or water.

Cautions:

1. Use with great care if unprepared forms of Typhonium and Ariseama are used.
2. Not used long term
3. Not used during Pregnancy
4. Not used in severe debility

Modifications:

1. Facial Paralysis, used Ariseama prepared with bile (Dan Nan Xing) instead of the unprepared form.
2. Facial Paralysis or severe stiffness, add Scorpion (Quan Xie) and Centipede (Wu Gong)
3. Tetanic convulsions, add Scorpion (Quan Xie), Centipede (Wu Gong) and Dead Silkworm (Bai Jiang Can)
