Preparation:
Decoction; the source text says to boil in 8 cups of water down to 3 cups. Today, Aconite is boiled for 45–60 minutes before adding the other ingredients.
Function:
Warms the Yang, clears Damp, promotes Urine
Use:
Cold-type abdominal pain, difficult urination, heavy and aching extremities, edema, heavy sansation, pale swollen tongue with toothmarks, deep and then pulse

6. Nrphrotic Syndreom
7. Congestive Heart Failure with Edema
8. Hypertension
9. Chronic Bronchitis or Asthma
10. Chronic Lower Back pain
11. Sciatica
12. Rheumatoid Arthritis
13. Impotence
14. Infertility
15. Menieres Disease
16. Hypothyroidism
17. Primary Hyperaldosteronism
18. Systemic Lupus Erythematosis (SLE)
Dose:
1 cup is taken 3 times daily
Comment:
This is an important formula for treating water and damp accumulation due to Coldness and Yang deficiency.
Cautions:
1. Not used in cases of marked Heat or Yin deficiency.
Modifications:
1. Severe and Chronic Edema, take with Wu Ling San
2. Edema from Chronic Heart Failure, add Plantain seed (Che Qian Zi), Water Plantain (Ze Xie), Cinnamon (Rou Gui)
3. Nephrotic Syndrome, take with Wu Pi Yin
4. Arthritis, add Cinnamon twig (Gui Zhi)
5. Rheumatoiud Arthritis, add Cinnamon twig (Gui Zhi) and Codonopsis Dang Shen
6. Osteoarthritis, add Astragalus Huang Qi, Cinnamon twig (Gui Zhi), Eucommia Du Zhong, Achyranthes Niu Xi
7. Spleen Yang deficiency with Diarrhea, add Dry Ginger (Gan Jiang)
8. Palpitations from Qi deficiency, add Ginseng
9. Heart Failure with Blood stagnation, add Peach kernel (Tao Ren), Safflower (Hong Hua)
10. Chronic Cough from fluid affecting the chest, add Schisandra Wu Wei Zi, Asarum Xi Xin, Ginger (Gan Jiang)
11. Menieres Disease, add Pinellia Ban Xia, Evodia Wu Zhu Yu
